
All Fall for the Book events are free and open to the public, thanks to sponsors including George Mason University, Barnes & Noble, NOVEC, the Fairfax County Public Library, and other generous businesses and organizations. Events are held on George Mason University's Fairfax, Virginia Campus and at select locations throughout Northern Virginia, DC, and Maryland. Because of high demand, tickets will be required for the events featuring Greg Mortenson and Kathryn Stockett. Tickets are free and will be distributed as follows:
For Kathryn Stockett’s appearance on Tuesday, September 21, at 8 p.m. at the Reston CenterStage Theater: Reservations are accepted on a first-come first-served basis (limit two tickets per person) and can be made beginning Tuesday, September 7, in person at the CenterStage Box Office during regular hours (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 4-9 p.m., Saturday 1-5 p.m.) or over the phone by calling 703-476-4500, ext. 3. All tickets will be held at the Box Office and must be picked up at least 15 minutes prior to the presentation. Tickets not picked up by that time will then be reissued to walk-up patrons on a first-come first-served basis. CenterStage at the Reston Community Center is located at 2310 Colts Neck Road, Reston, VA 20191.
For Greg Mortenson’s appearance on Friday, September 24, at 7 p.m. in the Concert Hall on George Mason University’s Fairfax, VA campus: Tickets were made available on Monday, August 16, and have all been claimed. If you were able to reserve your tickets, they will be mailed to you; no email confirmation will be sent.
Many of Fall for the Book's venues are in neighborhoods with various fine restaurants. Additionally, Mason's Fairfax, Virginia Campus boasts a number of dining options, from quick fast-food to more leisurely sit-down meals. A list of on-campus restaurants can be found here. Check out the Johnson Center, Student Union Building 1 and Southside for possibilities closest to festival events.
For Mason’s Fairfax Campus: Sandy Creek and Mason Pond parking decks provide most of the campus’ visitor parking. These decks tend to fill in the mornings and early evenings during the first few weeks of the semester. Additional visitor parking is available utilizing our Pay by Space machines in the 1st level of Rappahannock River Parking Deck (a separate visitor entrance is located off Patriot Circle). Also: Check the Mason Shuttles website, http://shuttle.gmu.edu for the new fall semester shuttle schedules. Many of the schedules have changed slightly as new stops have been added around campus. Check schedules for stop locations.The parking web page is updated periodically at http://parking.gmu.edu/.
For Downtown Fairfax: Free parking is available in large, multi-level decks and in public parking lots along North Street, Chain Bridge Road, University Drive and Old Lee Highway.
For Other Venues: All other school, libraries and businesses have nearby parking. Please contact individual venues for questions or special concerns.
