Ethan Canin

Ethan Canin is the author of six books of fiction, most recently the novel America America. His other works include the novels Blue River, For Kings and Planets, and Carry Me Across the Water; the collection of short stories, Emperor of the Air; and the collection of long stories, The Palace Thief. The title story of The Palace Thief was adapted into the 2002 motion picture, The Emperor’s Club. Canin’s fiction has appeared in numerous publications, including The Atlantic Monthly, Esquire, The Paris Review, Granta, and The New Yorker, which named him one of 20 “writers for the new millennium.” He is also a physician and teaches on the faculty of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop.
